In the following link you can see the video of the “experiment share” of the NGO Help in Action.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajt9VYHaGO4

The idea is to do something similar in our Calasanz group, so that they reflect on our nature predisposed to share and on the unequal distribution of resources in the world. Especially in food supply.

 BEFORE THE SESSION:

We can prepare this session in a festive context such as the end of the course, last meeting before Christmas, Calasanz week, or even the celebration of the birthdays of the members of the group. Anyone serves.

We will notify that we are going to celebrate a snack or special food. We have two options: prepare the snack for us or ask each one to bring something and celebrate a shared meal.

 START OF THE SESSION

We will have part of the food divided into individual rations and covered so that it is not seen. And we will operate as in the video that we have seen. And after the first “shock” of reality and the reflection of the injustice that we have lived, we can pray for those who are not so lucky to have people by their side who share their ration, as well as give thanks for everything that the Lord gives us every day.

Then we will put all the food on the table, and we will celebrate the shared food.

 END OF THE SESSION:

It is very important to take care that not on food, and if it is too much that it can be given use in later moments. For this, we leave you a series of tricks with which to avoid that most of the food they have brought ends in the trash:

  1. Distribute dishes so that each person is served what he estimates that is going to eat. Insist on that it is better to repeat and serve you twice, than throw what you cannot finish.
  2. Put relaxing music so that there is no rush to finish eating and go out to play. Let's enjoy the moment.
  3. In this sense, it is advisable to hold the meeting after a period of game, so that we do not have so much desire to leave again to play.
  4. If we have fruits to share, do not remove the skin before time. Better to do it just before starting to take it.
  5. Prepare ecological containers to save the remains of food that, preferably, has not been manipulated before (so be served in the individual dish what you can eat yourself). If we store it, we can either take it to some dining room or social organization nearby or return it to the houses so that it is consumed in later days.

It is important to insist with our boys and girls in taking care of these habits against the waste of food also at home, that they share it with their families and thus we will achieve to decrease the remains of food in our trash.

This activity is proposed in the framework of the Solidarity Campaign 2023-24
